1. how to protect your safety on campus
while our platform protects your identity mathematically by not associating your posts with phone numbers or personal records, true anonymity also requires good personal digital hygiene:
spillit has no option to delete individual spills or replies once submitted. what you write will stay forever. if you delete your user account, your spills and comments remain on the feeds with your username anonymized to 'deleted user'.
do not post anecdotes that only 2 or 3 people on campus could possibly know (e.g. "i was sitting in the third row wearing a purple hoodie during 9am physics"). generalize dates, exact locations, and distinctive quirks.
do not choose a username that matches your instagram, discord, telegram, github, or gaming handle. choose a completely abstract handle.
if using a college library pc or computer lab, always log out of spillit or browse in incognito mode so your session token is not saved on shared browser storage.
if anyone on campus or in a comment threatens to reveal your identity or dox you, report the post immediately below. we treat doxxing seriously (all reports and support inquiries take at least 7 days to review and process).
