[ safety update ]31 october 2026

one-time moderation harmonization & name privacy update

spillit has completed a one-time safety and moderation audit across historical posts and comments to align older submissions with our strict anti-doxxing, name-privacy, and non-sexual venting standards. any past submission edited during this transition has been marked with the "[spillit moderated]" tag in the top right. this is a one-time retroactive adjustment—all submissions going forward are evaluated automatically at time of posting.

  • •zero-tolerance for individual names: naming individuals (faculty, students, or staff) is strictly prohibited across all feeds to preserve 100% student anonymity.
  • •historical adjustment: flagged older submissions have been edited to preserve the original student expression while removing private names or sexually degrading insults, marked with explicit "[spillit moderated]" top-right badges.
  • •author anonymization: usernames violating safety policies have been converted to "deleted user" in accordance with our account deletion policy.
  • •future policy: this retroactive edit is a singular transition event; all future submissions must pass automated moderation before publishing.

content permanence: removal of individual delete option

we have officially removed the delete button for individual spills and replies across the entire platform. spillit is designed for unfiltered, candid campus expression where words carry genuine weight. moving forward, what you write on spillit stays on the feeds permanently. if you choose to permanently delete your account, your published spills and comments will remain visible on the feeds with your username anonymized to "deleted user".

  • •individual spills cannot be deleted once published to campus or global feeds.
  • •discussion replies and comments cannot be individually deleted once posted.
  • •account deletion preserves content: deleting your user account in settings & data deletes your credentials and personal session, while your published spills and comments remain on the platform under the author handle "deleted user".
  • •all platform writings (about, privacy policy, terms of service, community guidelines, and support/safety) have been updated to reflect content permanence and author anonymization on account deletion.
  • •a final onboarding step is now active during signup where all new users must review and accept the platform writings before creating their account.
